This video dates back to 1969 and presents what could be described as an early idea of the Internet. I just love the reaction of the guy at 0:46 right after the narrator says: “What the wife selects on her console will be paid for by her husband at his counterpart console.” Society has certainly changed a lot since then hasn’t it?

A Greek and an Italian were drinking coffee one day discussing who had the superior culture.

Over triple lattes the Greek guy says, “Well, we have the Parthenon”.

Arching his eyebrows the Italian replies, “We have the Coliseum.”

The Greek retorts, “We Greeks gave birth to advanced mathematics.” The Italian, nodding in agreement, says, “But we built the Roman Empire.”

And so on and so on until the Greek comes up with what he thinks will end the discussion.

With a flourish of finality he says, “We invented sex!”

The Italian replies, “That is true, but it was the Italians who introduced it to women.”

1. Constantly gets Indonesia and Outdonesia confused.

2. As incentive for learning, when you name a state capital, you get to take a shot.

3. Insists that one of Popes during the Roman empire was Pope Bubba.

4. Thinks that Mussolini was Hitler’s favorite pasta.

5. Counts Puerto Rico, Mexico and Canada as “technically” U.S. States.

6. Tells you that its Napoleon that’s the ice cream that comes in 3 flavors in one box.

7. Insists that the Great Depression could have been stopped with the right amount of Lithium.

8. Threatens to renact Salem Witch Trials/Burnings if homework is not turned in on time.

9. Claims that it was Martin and Lewis that were the great explorers of the West.

10. Credits David Hasselhoff and not Democracy for the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Talk about a blast from the past! After seeing this video, things have changed so much for the Internet. Could you imagine waiting 2 hours for a website to load? Thanks to Broadband, we can stream a movie (or two) in the time it took to download a newspaper.

Though electronic newspapers and magazine exist like the video speculated, we still prefer a hard copy for our commute to work. Though even this is starting to change slowly with eBook readers and devices like the iPhone.
